Math

I started teaching for the Twin Falls School District in 1985, and have enjoyed sharing my love of mathematics with students for more than 30 years!  During this time, I have taught every math course from middle school mathematics through Calculus and have had the privilege to work alongside and learn from many outstanding colleagues.  My husband, Dennis, recently retired after 32 years teaching music in this district, and we have two grown children.  We enjoy biking, hiking, skiing, music, gardening, and traveling.

I am a graduate of the College of Southern Idaho where I received national honors as a member of the forensic team, and later finished my bachelor’s degree with Idaho State University. I am inspired by my wife Jenny and our three children. Our daughter achieved valedictorian here at TFHS, and our two boys are currently attending TFHS and let’s just say, giving it their best effort. I love being active, still playing soccer in the Magic Valley Master’s League, cycling, kayaking, hiking and anything outdoors. I am truly excited about the challenges and opportunities here and sharing my experiences with the students and staff here at TFHS.  I am currently the head JV soccer coach for TFHS.  GO BRUINS!

Special Education

I originally grew up in Casper, Wyoming, but with my dad being in the Army, we have also lived in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and El Paso, Texas. I learned what it was like to be in the minority group when we were stationed in Texas during the first part of my seventh grade year. I have two brothers, a half- brother, and a half- sister. I have 2 nieces and 8 nephews along with two great-nephews. Family has always been important to me. My parents moved to Boise a couple of years ago to take care of my grandma.

I was active in high school in the band, choir during my senior year, gymnastics, and I managed the track team. I met my husband when I went to college in 2000. He was helping his best friend move into the dorms. We started dating in 2003. He proposed to me while I was knee deep in a snow drift in the Snowy Range Mountains, east of Laramie, Wyoming.

Other than 8 months when I lived and worked in Joplin, Mo, I lived in Laramie for 10 years for college and the 6 years after before moving back to Casper to teach at CY Middle School. I was a 1 to 1 paraprofessional in Laramie at Spring Creek Elementary School for four  years. Due to the political climate in Casper in the school district, my teaching position was eliminated and I subbed for the next two years while looking for a full time teaching job. Idaho and Washington were the other two states besides Wyoming that we were willing to live in.

My husband and I adopted a dog from the local shelter just over two years ago. I have been training with our dog, Trex, and she has earned to Canine Good Citizen Certificates from the American Kennel Club. She loves to go for walks and car rides and travels longer distances very well. When I am not in my classroom teaching, my husband and I go exploring and take Trex for walks. I can also be found knitting, reading books, or playing in the CSI Symphonic Band.

My mom and three of her siblings, and two of her brother-in-laws attended Twin Falls High School in the 1960s- 1970.

Administration

I grew up in Butte, Montana. I graduated from Butte High School, then earned my B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Montana State University.

I have been in education 30 years. I started my career as a sixth grade teacher at Navajo Elementary School in Navajo, New Mexico. I spent two years there. I was also an assistant football coach for Navajo Pine High School my first year there, and was the head coach the next year. My family wanted to get back closer to Montana, so I took a seventh grade teaching job at Mount Hall Elementary School in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. I spent the next twelve years teaching eighth grade science. I was an assistant football coach for Bonners Ferry High School for six years, and then the head football coach for seven years. I also coached eighth grade boys basketball, and was the Middle School Athletic Director.

I decided I wanted to become an administrator, so I started my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Idaho. I accepted the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director position at Bonners Ferry High School and was in that position for eight years.

I decided it was time for a change, so I accepted the Athletic Director/Vice Principal position at Middleton High School and was there for six years. I accepted the Activities Director position at Twin Falls High School last April and hope to finish my career here.

I have been married to my wife Lori for thirty years. She is the librarian and reading teacher for Robert Stuart Middle School. We have two children. Our daughter Kylee is a nurse for St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise and our son Carey is a golf pro and currently works for Verizon in Boise.

When I am not spending time in a gym or supervising an activity, I love to play golf, hunt, and camp whenever possible. I also enjoy attending AD conferences at the national and state level. I am the Section 8 Chairman for the National Emergency Network for the NIAAA. I received my CAA certification in the spring of 2013. I am currently working on my CMAA certification and hope to have that completed by the end of the summer.

I am happy to be back in the Twin Falls area.  Back in the 1970’s, I attended Morningside Elementary School.   In the early 1980’s, I entered college working towards a theatrical arts degree.  After a long career as an actor, I started my teaching career in Wyoming where I taught Sophomore College Preparation English in Evanston, Wyoming.  I have 8 children, 2 were diagnosed with autism.  Out of concern for them and others, I returned to school to earn my Master’s degree in special education.  I then started teaching within a self-contained behavior classroom in Rawlins, Wyoming.  I’ve been helping and teaching students with a disability since 2005.  In 2014, I moved my family back to Twin Falls and started teaching in the S.T.E.P. classroom at Twin Falls High School.  It has been a delight being back home and around family again. I am currently working on another Master’s degree. This time it is in educational administration.
